The Indian markets rose for the second consecutive month in February 2012. Strong global cues led by positive economic data and surge in foreign fund inflows boosted markets.
All the global indices closed the month on a positive note. Nikkei was the top performer of the month rising by 10.46%, following that Hang Seng up by 6.32%, Dax up by 6.15%, Shanghai Composite up by 5.93% and Nasdaq up by 5.44%. Rest major indices stood higher in the range of 2.53-4.67%.
The main stock market index closed with a loss of 27.77 points at 17,145.52, with all but 13 of its components declining.
The broader 50-share NSE index dropped 0.04 percent to 5,220.45.
