The Nifty closed near its day's low on Monday after profit booking intensified in realty, banks and capital goods sectors in absence of positive global cues.
Today Nifty was at 5,358.25, up 8 points or 0.15 per cent. It touched a high of 5,359.25 and a low of 5,343.25 in early trade. Currently Nifty is trading at Rs 5,333, down 0.31 percent from its previous closing.

Today the markets closed with moderate gains and barring healthcare and oil & gas, all sectoral indices closed positive. The Nifty snapped its losing streak and closed in the positive terrain led by gains in Bajaj Auto, Tata Power, Sesa Goa and Jindal Steel. Capital goods and metal remained the best performers and auto, too, made significant gains after Bajaj Auto  announced its numbers. Retail sector gained on the back of expectations that some positive move may come from the government on FDI, while PSU banks traded negative. The Sensex closed at 17185, up 80 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5216, up 23 points.
