Indian markets extended losses for fifth consecutive day as sentiments turned bearish on concerns of interest rate hike fears. Profit booking from foreign institutional investors and weak global peers also hurt sentiments.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 5757.70, down 146.90 points or 2.49 per cent. The broader index touched a high of 5907.25 and low of 5740.95 intraday.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was closed at 19162.34, down 529.47 points or 2.69 per cent. The 30-share index touched a high of 19720.43 and low of 19162.34 in today’s trade.
BSE Midcap Index was down 2.47 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 2.97 per cent lower.
