Despite opening on an upbeat note on the back of a strong rupee, that resulted in a 350 plus points gain for the Sensex in early trade, the market tumbled past noon following a surge in inflation and eventually ended flat on Monday.
Sensex closed 9.71 points lower at 19,742.47 while Nifty ended at 5,840.55, down 10.05 point.
