Market updates for Today 15th Sept:

The markets closed with moderate gains today with auto being the best performer.
The Sensex closed at 16937 (provisional), up 60 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5086 (provisional), up 11 points.
The CNX Midcap index was up 0.05% and the BSE Smallcap index gained 0.02%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 620 against declines of 804 on the NSE.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) raised interest rates for the 12th time in 18 months and surprised markets by sticking with its anti-inflationary stance even as growth slows in Asia's third-largest economy and policymakers elsewhere focus on reviving flagging demand.
The RBI raised its policy lending rate, the repo rate, by 25 basis points to 8.25 percent, in line with expectations, as it persisted in a fight to curb inflation that has thus far mostly proven futile
Inflation for August rose to 9.78 percent, its highest in more than a year. Growth and demand, however, have cooled following the cumulative impact of earlier rate increases and rising prices.

At 2:30 PM -Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is trading at Rs 1035.50, up by 18.45 points or 1.81% from its previous closing of Rs 1017.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 1029.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs 1038.00 and Rs 1010.45 respectively. So far 164852 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1247.00 on 06-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 893.20 on 16-Sep-2010.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 1051.00 and Rs 979.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 199059.16 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.08% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.90% and 5.03% respectively.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm has signed a multi-year contract with Nets, one of the largest payment cards, payment solutions and payment exchange information companies in Northern Europe. The contract comprises application maintenance and development services across Nets’ value chain of cards, payments and e-Security.
