The markets have gained momentum after taking cues from European markets and both benchmark indices are trading with 0.75% gains. Oil & gas, IT, capital goods and auto are the biggest gainers at this hour and metal and banking are also moving in positive territory.

The Sensex is trading at 16856, up 142 points from its previous close, and the Nifty is at 5060, up 43 points.

The CNX Midcap index is up 0.2% while the BSE Smallcap index has gained 0.5% till now. The market breadth is positive with advances at 798 against declines of 604 on the NSE.
